Every time I hear the words "new drug" or "wonder drug" I smile.

At my age the hype is wearing thin.   Here is a picture of some locals going to work at a factory back in 1943.  Just random Americans working 24/7 during WWII.  Note their body fat composition.  Note their frames.  Note the muscle and lack of obesity. 

Compare these workers to Americans you see today at the grocery store, at the mall, at the theatre, at church, at school, or at the beach.   We don't have health care we have a BIG PHARMA epidemic.   We have a health care system out of control.  We have a FOOD system totally out of sync with the body.  

A couple of weeks ago a relative had to spend a night in the hospital for observation after a fairly minor procedure.  You are fairly brilliant for reading this so go ahead, take a guess what they were  billed for that one night in the hospital?

Okay, so he is on Medicare.  You pay for that as I do.

Expectations from the Stock Market

One of my favorite things to share with stock market investors is the following phrase.

"People get out of the stock market exactly what they want to get out of the stock market."

One thing I can say for sure is that if you want winning performance out of your investments you better be prepared to do the work and know that losses are the cost of doing business.

Whether you feel the stock market is a gamblers paradise or a safe haven for the long term to increase your purchasing power in years to come, you will probably get from the market what you want. If you want to do the work, put in the time, suffer the pain of declining markets and have some success remember, no one cares more than you about your money. Get in that relationship with your goals. Know that preparation eliminates fear. The will to win means nothing without the will to prepare.

You can't stop hard work, preparation and attitude. Success isn't owned, it's leased and rent is due every day. It's not how life happens to us. It's how we happen in life.

Remember, God feeds the birds but God doesn't drop worms into the nest.

FATHERHOOD

I preach often on the importance of children across the world being raised and educated in a 2 parent household, preferably with biological parents.   A 55% divorce rate is decimating 2 parent households. Look around, ask any elementary school teacher what they are up against in the classroom.

Fatherhood is the single greatest role a man could play in society. I can’t think of a single greater factor than to advocate for, edify, uplift, encourage, and support fatherhood, especially on Indian reservations today. There are a lot of problems in the world. Most of them will improve when we improve the condition of a strong fatherly presence in a 2-parent household.

The greatest aspect of my entire life was to become a father.

Don't believe the lies of the world telling you otherwise.

Anyone stating that they are happier married/single and childless is lying.

Lying to themselves.  

Until the State and National Governments stop the incentives for grandparents and others to be "raising" children we will continue with substandard levels of healthy, intelligent, hard working, motived American youth.  

Do not co-parent with the United States Government.  Growing up in a single female head of household is the greatest indicator that a child will live in poverty.  Return fathers back into families and you will see a vast improvement in the first generation raised within a proper nuclear family.

Law School

It was 1978.  I applied to 6 law schools.  Did well on the LSAT and was accepted into 5 of the 6.    On the first day of Criminal Law at Hamline Law School, our esteemed Professor,  Joseph Daly asked the class how many were in law school because they couldn't get into medical school.

In 2023 is Patsy Ostrander still lurking around in her high yield playground or is that her on a museum investment committee these days? Never forget, Mike Milken, a once felon now pardoned by Trump, is worth probably $4 billion after getting his trading desk caught spinning bonds with the HYB crew back in the 80's. Looks like HYB President Ellen Terry is still involved, taking out about $300,000 every year, working it diligently for a career in several roles at HYB since inception! Wow, imagine a lifetime of putting the hammer down on shareholders! Hopefully her net worth isn't down that much but she only owns less than 35k shares. Former HYB Board member the late Franko Modigliani had it right. He didn't know a thing about the workings of the high yield market but did know a bit about economics. Unfortunately he learned about daisy-chains, warrants, and leverage rather quickly! The Harvard Business School Case Study did a good job laying out the truth on Patricia Ostrander at HYB. Franko was a good guy and well ahead of his time. The Modigliani-Miller theorem implies that, for a closed economy, state borrowing is merely deferred taxation, since state spending can be financed only by "printing money", taxation, or borrowing, and therefore monetary financing of state spending implies the subsequent imposition of a so-called "inflation tax," which ostensibly has the same effect on permanent income as explicit taxation.

On HYB, truth be told, my stance hasn't changed in 25 years! This fund is run for the benefit of those involved! Look at the performance since inception! It came public at $50 a share!! NAV is only down about 85%! Shares trade well under $7. Run by the insiders for the benefit of the insiders I say! They have to be careful to keep it alive so they can keep milking it, T. Rowe needs all the revenue it can muster. Putting lipstick on this security and keeping it alive must take a hell of a lot of work. Good luck if you own HYB.

Biden ultimately pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor tax offenses as part of an agreement with federal prosecutors in a lenient deal that prompted criticism from Republican lawmakers. The hearing comes as House Republicans continue to investigate the president and his family after the Justice Department failed to find evidence of criminal conduct.

As painful as it may be, Hunter Biden has a better chance of becoming President than ever being in jail.  This broken record is getting old, there is no accountability for the chosen elite.

Everyone will just think Hunter had previously been there but you probably won't have to bring any drugs on second thought, if you just keep digging around you should find some, sort of like a scavenger hunt!

Dear Victor,

One day long ago a cane arrived and my very sincerest “thank-you” is in order.  My Dad, my biggest hero nearing age 88, is using your cane every day on the White Earth Indian Reservation where we are members.   Dad loves the cane as it is a step-up from the diamond-willow cane he had used for years and which had been cut in 1937!   I had your cane proudly displayed in my office and when Dad was sitting here he tried it out and hasn’t put it down. 

I am the grandson of two very respectable trappers and was raised on wild, remote Indian reservations across Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota.  I put myself through college in the 70’s by trapping fox, coyotes, coon, mink, badger, muskrats and beaver and do business with a number of clients who are active in all facets of the trapping business.  

I had bit of a “view” into your CT home by way of the YouTube videos done by the Asians and wasn’t quite sure how you might display this gift but I think it unique and Aubrey someday may appreciate   what it represents, as the oldest corporation in North America is the Hudson Bay Trading company.

This is a lethal trap so make sure when Aubrey gets a bit older and stronger he brings a healthy dose of respect to what this trap can do.  It is designed for fox and can easily hold coyotes.  It was designed and manufactured by a client, Rob Caven who is part of the team at Minnesota Trapline Products.

If Aubrey ever wants a trapping lesson on canines I would be elated to be his instructor.  Trapping bobcats, fox and coyotes is much easier than taking money out of the market every day.  The reasons why animals get caught never change.   If the Chinese ever decide fur is fashionable again it might even get me back on a trapline in serious pursuit.  Now I trap for the fun, to teach the skills to my sons and to get out and enjoy the bounty of beautiful renewable resources.  I hope the gold overlay will always reflect the brilliance which you share your life’s journey.  Thank you for helping make me a better speculator and catch more in the market.

Indian Country Compassion

I have been around long enough to witness enough "compassion" to last 100 lifetimes.   Look at the state of Indian Reservations in the United States today.

Democrats at work.   

I remember well, every year the winter coat drives for residents in Pine Ridge, the untold hundreds of volunteers who showed up to paint a building while the healthy, able and unwilling youth did nothing to help. It was a circle jerk of feel-good combined with doing something that might help the "poor" and impoverished" Native American communities.  Paint is what they don't need.  Cancer doesn't relish a band-aid.   Where are the fathers?  Where are the college educated?   Where are the half-way houses?  It is still a circle jerk of government largesse ie tax dollar give away programs.

Compassion to this Chippewa is the large number of reservation residents who are achieving success and GETTING OUT of government programs, government hand-outs,  and away from government period.

That, my friends, is real compassion.

The social media sites are being overrun with guru's these days.

If they were any good they would be using their time to study and trade, not sell hocus-pocus to the masses.  The B.S. is thick everywhere.

The pumpers touting books, chart services, newsletters, you name it. 

If they can pump it they will do it.

Money is made outside of market hours.  

I know work is foreign to most people.  Do the work.

The average American eats 3,782 calories every day.

It is NOT genetics boys and girls.  It is gluttony.  It is the reason America is so dam obese.  Where I come from they call it FAT.

It is selfish, privileged, unintelligent eating and the over-consumption of bad food.  Bad for your mind, bad for you body, bad for the environment.

All of your fat, obesity and related health issues disproportionately burden society.   You are responsible for your fatness.  Only you.

Put down the cell phone, turn off the TV, keep the fork away from your mouth.  

Do something.  Anything to burn afew calories every day except eat.
