The garbage is just more concentrated this year.
This is the Mississippi River in 2011. A mere few hundred days ago. Plenty of water flowing to move barge traffic. No worries about shipping back then. Here is the same river this summer.
Maybe the "dead zone" of thousands of square miles of ocean bottom in the Gulf of Mexico may get a reprieve this summer from the pollution. I hope so but probably not. our Earth Mother is in trouble. This river is "cleaner" than any river I saw in India. There are plenty of "gods" in India. Clean water and Mother Earth would be a couple more to add to the mix.
