Another TN Beauty

This is a Luna Moth (Actias luna), one of the most striking and recognizable moths in North America.

Key features:

- Pale green wings with long, trailing hindwings.

- Eyespots on both forewings and hindwings.

- Fuzzy body with feathery antennae (especially prominent in males).

- No mouthparts – the adult moths do not eat and live only about a week, long enough to reproduce.

They’re harmless and rare to see, as they’re mostly nocturnal and don’t live long.
